Entry Requiements

Entry Requirements

This pageant system is open to all plus-sized women and teens of all races within the State of Mississippi. To be considered to compete for Mississippi Plus America, complete the online application.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have application submitted online to be considered.

  • Applicants for Miss, Ms. and Mrs. categories must be at least 18 years old by October 1

    • Teens must be at least 13 and no older than 18 by October 1

  • Must have been born a woman and legal US citizen

  • Must wear a size 14W or greater (Teens size 12 or greater)

  • Must live in, own property, born, previously lived, or have some affiliation with the State of Mississippi

  • Must have pleasant, intellectual demeanor as displayed on social media and in interview. No profanity or vulgarness will be tolerated.

Competition Requirements

Competition Requirements

All Fees must be paid in full by the deadline or contestant risks point deductions and/or disqualification.

  • $375 REGISTRATION FEE: (Can be paid in installments. See below). 

    • Registration Fee covers the cost of your crown, sash, MSPA t-shirt, one (1) optional entry, virtual pageant trainings and personal fundraising webpage. 

    • Registration Fee Schedule:​​

      • Early Registration (July 1 - Sept 1)

      • Regular Registration (Sept 1 - October 1)

      • Late Registration (October 1-November 1); Additional $100 rush fee

    • Payment Installments: Minimum $150 due within 5 days of receiving official acceptance letter. Balance must be paid by October 1. No exceptions.  Point deductions and/or late fees will be applied.​

  • BOOTCAMP REGISTRATION: (Contestants may secure a business sponsor for Bootcamp training). Bootcamp fee covers event space, pageant training, lunch, & pageant walk, mock-interview and on-stage question practice.

  • ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL (FUN!) COMPETITION CATEGORIES: $20 each. Contestants are required to participate in at least one optional. See Competition Categories below for more info.​​

  • PAGEANT FUNDRAISING GOAL: Contestants must complete the pageant fundraising goal during the 4 month (Nov-March) competition season. 

    • Secure 1 Business Sponsor (to help cover cost of Bootcamp, Entry Fee, Pageant, etc.)

    • Sell 10 Tickets

    • Participate in People's Choice Competition

    • Sell 1 Full Page Ad

Competition Categories

Pageant Categories: These categories are scored by a panel of judges to determine who will win the state title.

  • PRIVATE INTERVIEW (50% of preliminary score)

  • ON-STAGE QUESTION (50% of final score)

  • ELEGANT PANTWEAR (25% of preliminary & final score)

  • EVENING GOWN (25% of preliminary & final score)

Optional Categories:  These categories are for fun only and do not have any bearing on winning the state title. Winners will be presented with a trophy and certificate on pageant night. Contestants are required to compete in one (1) Optional category.  Additional entries into the optional competition are $20 each. Optional categories are: 

  • Community Service Award

  • Fashion Model/Runway

  • Spokesmodel

  • Talent

  • Essay

  • State Costume

The highest-scoring winners of the Mississippi Plus America pageant for each division (Teen, Miss, Ms. and Mrs.) will receive:

  • Official Nationally branded Miss Plus America state crown and sash

  • Custom Floral bouquet

  • Official Photo on Website Homepage & Personal Reigning Queen Webpage

  • Paid Registration Fee to the National Miss Plus America Competition ($1200 value; $800 for Teens; $450 for Littles)

    • Contingent upon contestant completing fundraising goal.

    • The National Miss Plus America Competition will be held in Houston, Texas in July.

    • Registration fee does not cover cost of hotel, transportation, or incidental fees at Nationals.

  • Plus Cash & Prizes! 

    • ​The exact amount may vary depending on the contestant's acquired pageant People's Choice fundraising goal.
