ABOUT ME
I am 53 years old, a proud full-figured woman, wife, mother of six, and grandmother of five. Growing up, I was raised by a parent who faced significant mental wellness challenges. This early experience taught me that mental wellness and domestic violence often share a common thread—both can leave individuals feeling isolated, ashamed, and trapped in cycles that seem impossible to break. Yet, through my own journey, I learned that making connections with others—whether through shared experiences or supportive networks—was crucial to navigating both my personal struggles and those of others. These connections provided me with the strength to continue when I felt my spirit was failing, and they gave me the tools to rebuild my life.

Platform
I am not only an advocate, but a survivor and a champion for those affected by domestic violence. My journey has been a testament to resilience, one that includes not only surviving but thriving. Having lived through a 12-year ordeal of domestic violence, I emerged stronger and more determined than ever to use my voice to support those who are still silenced. As a survivor, I understand that thriving is not just about surviving the storms life throws our way, but about learning to love and empower ourselves in the process. This realization has fueled my passion to raise awareness about the challenges faced by those who are both survivors of domestic violence and those who live with the stigma of being plus-size. I am committed to amplifying the voices of those who feel silenced by shame, whether because of their size, their experiences, or their past.
